Jim has practiced with Swanson & Bratschun since October 2000. Jim practices Intellectual Property law with a focus on counseling clients in the materials science, electronics, photonics, medical device and other engineering practice areas. He has experience in various aspects of client counseling including U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate opinions, infringement and validity opinions, licensing agreements and overall due diligence reviews. Jim also has experience counseling clients in trademark and copyright matters.
Between 1986 and 2000 Jim practiced law with a prominent Denver area general practice firm. Jim gained extensive business reorganization, business transaction and litigation experience which has proved useful when counseling clients in the business and transactional aspects of intellectual property law.
Jim enjoys hiking, skiing, backpacking and astronomy with his wife and two children. Jim has 7 years of baseball coaching experience with the Jefferson County Junior Baseball Association and was founding counsel for the Conifer Colorado Junior Basketball League. Jim stays active in a number of community and professional endeavors.
